C-Cure Solutions Limited was formed as a technology spin-off company following 8 years of joint research between the University of Surrey and Forest Research (the research arm of the UK Forestry Commission).
The research identified how selected sustainable biomass sources could be used to create a charcoal technology with the exceptional capacity to treat heavy metals and metalloids in soils, spoils and waste from industrial sites. Of particular interest are legacy (and live) mine sites that need restoring to natural habitat. Industry engagement has identified potential application for our products within the oil & gas, defence, water (produced and process waters), nuclear and industrial sectors as well as for adsorbing naturally occurring pollutants such as arsenic in drinking water.
The C-Cure service offer revolves around the restoration of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services on contaminated land.
